International Art Contest Compassion in Action Specific Rules/Guidelines

Anekant Community Center (ACC) is proud to host its first International Art Contest (IAC) This year’s theme is Compassion in Action where artists can showcase instances of empathy seen in their community. We wish to recognize the importance of compassion and highlight that it makes no distinction between gender, race, age or ethnicity and includes the diversity of all.

The artist (person submitting entry) is a person who captures their own thoughts and ideas to create a visual piece of art. Accepted forms of visual art include sketching, drawing, painting, printmaking. Original Artwork only. If any question, send us email at artcontestinternational@gmail.com

Theme: Compassion in Action

The initiative “Compassion in Action” is intended to evoke the creative mind and express acts of empathy through an artistic perspective. ACC is encouraging submissions that allow participants to exercise their imaginative abilities and expand their understanding of a changing world through compassion.

An explanation of the art form might be a useful addition to the artist statement. Whether an entry displays use of formal technique or a simple approach, it will be judged primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme, originality and creativity. Reproductions or enlargements of another artwork are not accepted. Artwork should refrain from containing any profanity.
Copyright: Use of copyrighted material, including any copyrighted cartoon characters or likeness thereof, bearing any logo, trademark etc. are NOT acceptable in any visual arts submission.

Submission Requirements:

  1. Only new piece of artwork inspired by the theme may be submitted.
  2. Each entry must be the original work of one participant only.
  3. Participant can be professional artist or student or adult as per 5 categories listed in the form.
  4. Dimensions must not exceed 24×30 inches, including matting.
  5. For the entry, include TWO digital images of artwork with your submission. (a) One image of your artwork and (b) another image of artist who created the artwork, holding the artwork. Allowed format is JPEG/JPG/PDF/TIFF/PNG. High resolution preferred.
  6. Overtly, religious and/or political content will not be accepted.
  7. Artwork that is selected will have to be submitted as per instructions provided later.

Artwork shall be original and unpublished and be the exclusive property of the participant in the contest and free from any right of use and copyright of third parties for reproduction and distribution in all mediums; Entries not meeting ANY of the requirements as stated above will not be accepted and will therefore be automatically excluded

FINALIST SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION:

ACC determines its own reviewers for the program. Entries will be reviewed primarily on how well the participant uses their artistic vision to portray the theme, their originality and creativity. Under no condition may artist or parents or students contact a reviewer to dispute the status/score of any entry.
ACC in its sole discretion will select finalists per ratings of internationally acclaimed artist and critics of art as Judges for selection of entries for virtual art gallery/exhibition and/or awards/prizes. As a reference, here is the weightage given to 3 key criteria of evaluation.

  1. Message on Compassion (50 pts.)
  2. Creativity (30 pts.)
  3. Technique (20 pts.)

Key dates:

  1. Last date to submit your artwork is September 31st 2021
  2. Winners in each category will be recognized at International Art Contest Day event on November 26th 2021
  3. Award Money will be sent out subsequently within 30 days

OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE:   Ownership of any submission shall remain with the entrant unless donated to International Art Contest. However, entry into this program constitutes entrant’s irrevocable permission and consent that IAC may display, copy, reproduce, enhance, print, sublicense, publish, distribute and create derivative works for IAC purposes. IAC is not responsible for lost or damaged entries.

INDEMNIFICATION:  The Participant shall also indemnify and hold harmless the Promoter, as well as the subjects linked to it, or controlled by it, its representatives, employees, consultants, and any of its trading partners from any claim made by a third party, for any reason whatsoever, in relation to the rights of use granted to the Promoter and/or to the contents of the entries uploaded.

Submission of entry into the IAC program constitutes acceptance of all rules and conditions.
