
Empowering 62 Visually Impaired Individuals at Anand: A Step Towards Inclusive Growth
In yet another step toward empowering visually impaired individuals, a mass Enablement Event was organized at Adi Shankaracharya Hall, Sardar Patel University, Anand, Gujarat. The event was hosted by VOSAP NGO partner, SETU Trust, which identified eligible beneficiaries and managed event logistics in collaboration with
Voice of SAP (VOSAP). The 62 beneficiaries, all blind students, received Jyoti AI Smartglasses at no cost to support their educational aspirations and daily living—marking a milestone event in their life.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries who delivered impactful speeches, including Mitesh R. Patel,Member of Parliament; Shri Pranav Desai, Founder of VOSAP (joining virtually from the USA); and Sudhabe Patel, Founder of SETU Trust. Jitendrabhai Patel, President of SETU Trust, also shared his thoughts.
Additionally, Mayankbhai Trivedi, Social Defense Officer; and Kaminiben Trivedi, District Education Officer, honored the event with their presence.
“We aim to empower Divyangjan to become economically self-reliant, with a vision where they become proud taxpayers harnessing their ABILITY with assistive devices they receive” said Shri Pranav Desai, Founder of VOSAP, during his address.
Shri Mitesh R. Patel, Member of Parliament, added “This enablement initiative is a remarkable step in realizing Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s vision for the disability sector.”
The highlight of the event was a live demonstration of the Jyoti AI Smartglasses by the Torchit Team. These innovative glasses, equipped with AI-powered features such as real-time object recognition, currency detection, colour identification, and text-to-speech conversion, significantly enhance mobility, learning, navigation, financial independence, and access to printed material for visually impaired users.
All 62 beneficiaries had applied online, and the VOSAP team personally assessed their needs to ensure the devices were given to the most deserving individuals. The distribution reaffirmed VOSAP’s commitment to promoting economic inclusion through technology.
Shri Pranav Desai shared Vision 2047 for Divyangjan—a plan aiming for a $1 trillion economic contribution from the disability sector in Viksit Bharat by 2047, presented to PM Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The event also saw enthusiastic participation from VOSAP volunteers and supporters, including Asha Deliwala, Ranjit Gohil, Rupa Shah, and visiting U.S. -based VOSAPians Meenakshi Shah and Krushnakant Shah, who continue to champion VOSAP’s mission globally.
VOSAP extends heartfelt gratitude to SETU Trust for their dedicated support to the blind community and their crucial role in organizing the event. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashish Deliwala, Executive Team Member of VOSAP, acknowledging the tireless contributions of volunteers, partners, and donors. This Enablement Event stands as yet another milestone in VOSAP’s ongoing mission to empower Specially Abled People through innovation, advocacy, and collective action.
