Belgaum Reaffirms Commitment to Accessibility: 42 Specially Abled Individuals Empowered with Assistive Devices and Self-Employment Kits
In a heartwarming event held at the Association of Physically Handicapped in Belgaum, VOSAP successfully completed another impactful enablement drive in the city. A total of 42 specially abled individuals were empowered with a variety of assistive devices, reaffirming Belgaum’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and accessibility under India’s Vision 2047.
The program was jointly hosted by the Association of Physically Handicapped, Belgaum, and Voice of SAP (VOSAP), a US-based NGO dedicated to disability rights and empowerment. Shri Pranav Desai, Founder of VOSAP, addressed the gathering virtually, sharing an inspiring message of inclusivity, dignity, and equal opportunity.
Attended by several dignitaries, including Belgaum City Mayor Mr. Mangesh Pawar, the event marked a significant step toward empowering persons with disabilities to lead independent and dignified lives. Participating in his second VOSAP enablement event, the Mayor reaffirmed his commitment to making Belgaum an accessibility-forward city and pledged continued support for Vision 2047, India’s roadmap to an inclusive and developed society.
The Mayor personally distributed devices such as wheelchairs, CP walkers, smartphones, sewing machines, Flexmo underarm crutches, and silent walkers. The largest distribution was of wheelchairs, with 29 recipients, followed by smartphones and sewing machines. The event showcased a diverse set of aids tailored to the unique needs of each individual, symbolizing empowerment through thoughtful support.
The event’s highlight was the distribution ceremony, where smiles and gratitude filled the air as beneficiaries received the devices that will enhance their mobility, communication, and livelihood opportunities.
This initiative is a continuation of VOSAP’s mission to enable and empower Specially Abled People in rural India. With the active support of local leaders and community organizations, Belgaum is setting an example of how collaboration can drive real change.
