Ibrani Gafarbhai Punjabhai, a resident of Marbatiya village in Tankara Taluka, has faced significant challenges throughout his life due to his locomotor disability caused by polio. As the eldest son in his family, living with his mother and brothers, he was hopeful to take on responsibility of supporting his household despite his limited mobility. Before receiving help from Voice of SAP (VOSAP), he had no means of transportation and had to crawl to get around, making it difficult to find work beyond the immediate vicinity of his home.
In May 2023, Gaffarbhai’s life took a transformative turn when he received a tricycle at VOSAP’s enablement event in Halvad. This new tricycle provided him with the mobility he desperately needed, drastically improving his quality of life and opening up new opportunities.
Using the tricycle every day, Gaffarbhai experienced a newfound sense of freedom and confidence. A skilled painter, he now had the ability to travel to distant locations to offer his services. His expertise in painting vehicles, tractors allowed him to secure work from a broader area.
With the tricycle, Gaffarbhai can easily travel to work sites, increasing his earnings to 8,000-10,000 INR per month. His ability to reach more clients has not only improved his financial situation but also bolstered his self-esteem and sense of independence. Gaffarbhai’s determination and skill have allowed him to overcome physical barriers, even climbing onto tables to paint large vehicles.
