BUP is a broad-based non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making social development organisation devoted to the integrated development of all sections of the community in West Bengal through community participation. The basic programme of BUP is to impart awareness among the people regaring their social-legal-economic and political conditions and extent of exploitation to which they are subjected to. It forms Action Groups which encouragem the formation of social actions programmes. The groups identify needs and skills of the group-members under the leadership of their own people. BUP assists them to chalk out their programmes through co-ordination from government departments and provides skill development training in different trades.
