VOSAP’s remarkable thought leadership has been acknowledged by the United Nations. In an exceptional opportunity, VOSAP Ambassador Manushri Desai will present the Oral Statement in person at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) on July 20, 2023, at the UN Headquarters in New York. The statement’s focus will be on “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels.”
Out of thousands of NGOs, written statements of 107 NGOs were accepted and published on the UN website, including the statement submitted by VOSAP. Subsequently only 10 NGOs out of these 107 statements were selected to present to world leaders at the UN.
This incredible recognition fills us at VOSAP with deep gratitude and a sense of responsibility as a leading international NGO, working in the disability sector. It serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of our work, thought leadership and fuels our determination to further elevate the torch of progress. We are humbled by the opportunity to contribute and share our perspectives during this pivotal moment.
VOSAP firmly believes that despite the immense negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the accelerated digital transformation and adoption of technology have paved the way for virtual practices, establishing a “new norm” for earning and learning. VOSAP holds the conviction that this crisis, while detrimental during COVID-19 pandemic, presents a much larger and sustained opportunity to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, through mainstreaming over 1 billion Persons with Disabilities with remote education and employment.
