In a powerful display of commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, Voice of Specially Abled People (VOSAP) made its mark as an international partner at the International Purple Fest Goa 2024.
The 6-day festival, held in the vibrant state of Goa, witnessed the convergence of over 10,000 participants from across the country, including NGOs, government officials, Divyangjan (specially abled individuals), and exhibitors showcasing assistive devices and products made by Divyang entrepreneurs in India.
1. VOSAP at Inaugural Session:
The festival commenced on January 8, 2024, with an inspiring address from VOSAP Ambassador Dr Karen Darke as a Keynote Speaker. She eloquently shared the mission of Visionary Founder Pranav Desai for “Viksit Bharat, Vision 2047,” setting the tone for the festival’s focus on long-term impact and societal transformation by coming together as determined community.

2. Address by Pranav Desai on Jan 11: A Vision for 2047:
VOSAP’s Visionary Founder, Pranav Desai, met with several leaders, Divyang entrepreneurs, Assistive Tech entrepreneurs exhibiting their products, selected NGO leaders, government officials, and secretaries from around the country and state of Goa. These interactions were not mere formalities but insightful discussions revolving around the visionary goal of achieving a $1 trillion economic contribution from the Disability sector in Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Founder Pranav Desai took the stage on January 11, addressing the festival as an international partner. His impassioned speech urged all stakeholders to contribute to Vision 2047 for Viksit Bharat, with a specific call to action for Divyangjan to aspire towards a $1 trillion economy by 2047 and do their part.
The $1 trillion economic goal for the Disability sector by 2047 is not just a number but a testament to the untapped potential that lies within this vibrant and capable community.
3. VOSAP Event on Jan 12, Empowering Through Innovation:
VOSAP demonstrated its commitment to practical empowerment by providing specially abled individuals with innovative assistive devices such as the Kibo XS Device, Kibo App, innovative crutches, and Smartcane. Dignitaries such as Minister of IT and Tourism, Government of Goa Shri Rohan Khaunte ji, Minister of Social Welfare, Goa Shri Subhash Phal Desai ji, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar ji, Secretary of State Commission for Persons with Disabilities Shri Taha Haaziq ji were present at the event.
These cutting-edge technologies, not covered under the Assistive Devices for Persons with Disabilities (ADIP) Scheme, showcase VOSAP’s dedication to enhancing the capabilities of the specially abled community.
Whether through technology, education, or employment initiatives, VOSAP is determined to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
4. Meeting with Honorable Chief Minister of Goa and Historic MOU Signing with the State of Goa:
In a historic move on January 12, VOSAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Goa. Goa is the first state whose compassionate and visionary leadership has committed to the Vision 2047 for Divyangjan.
Founder Pranav Desai and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant exchanged the MOU during the festival, signaling a robust commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible Goa. The MOU reflects the exemplary leadership of the Goa government, accessible tourism, housing for Divyangjan and its pledge to collaborate in achieving the $1 trillion economic goal for the Disability sector in Viksit Bharat by 2047.
5. Forging Partnerships for Impact:
Partnerships with government entities are pivotal to the success of any initiative aimed at social change. VOSAP’s efforts in collaborating with government officials and secretaries underscore its commitment to working hand-in-hand with key stakeholders. 6. Celebrating Commitment – VOSAP Meet and Greet:
The celebration continued as VOSAP Founder, Ambassador Dr Karen Darke, the mission team, volunteers, and assistive technology partners sharing their commitment during a meet and greet session. This gathering reinforced the collective dedication of 30 VOSAPians at Goa Purple Fest to the cause of empowering specially abled individuals. VOSAPinas was honored to have Secretary, Govt of India Shri Rajesh Agrawal and other Govt of India officers joining the meet and greet dinner on Jan 12.
A heartfelt appreciation extends to the entire team of the International Purple Fest Goa, including State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar ji and Secretary of State Commission for Persons with Disabilities Shri Taha Haaziq ji. Their efforts, guided by the leadership of Minister of Social Welfare, Government of Goa Shri Subhash Phal Desai ji, provided this valuable opportunity and established a platform for all specially-abled individuals to come together and celebrate their uniqueness.
