Over the past three years, Voice of Specially Abled People (VOSAP) has been dedicated to empowering Divyangjans (specially-abled people) in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the regions of Ayodhya and Basti. Through partnerships with local organizations and healthcare facilities, VOSAP has made significant strides in transforming the lives of thousands of individuals, enabling them to achieve economic independence and regain eyesight with surgical intervention.
Shri Pranav Desai’s Visit to Ayodhya: The Gift of Vision
On the first anniversary of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, VOSAP Founder Shri Pranav Desai visited Deenbandhu Eye Hospital to witness the impact of VOSAP’s partnership with the hospital. Deenbandhu Eye Hospital, located in Ayodhya, is a prominent healthcare facility dedicated to providing high-quality eye care, including cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, and general eye health services. Over the past two years, VOSAP has partnered with the hospital to offer the “Gift of Vision” to individuals in the Purvanchal region.
During his visit, Shri Desai met with Nritya Gopal Das Ji, a founding member of Deenbandhu Eye Hospital, who has played a pivotal role in providing quality healthcare services to the economically backward people of Purvanchal. With the introduction of Kalyanam Karoti, Mathura, a long-standing partner of VOSAP, started working in the Ayodhya region. The collaboration has enabled 3,762 individuals from Purvanchal to receive cataract surgeries, fully paid for by VOSA that has improved their quality of life and offered new opportunities in education, employment, and daily living.
The success rate of cataract surgeries at Deenbandhu Eye Hospital stands at an impressive 80%, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to high-quality care and modern surgical techniques. Shri Desai also interacted with patients who had traveled from 14 districts of Purvanchal to receive treatment. Many of them spoke Pali and shared how their restored vision had significantly improved their lives. Recognizing the ongoing need for cataract treatments, Shri Desai pledged continued support for cataract surgeries at Deenbandhu Eye Hospital in 2025 and beyond, ensuring that more individuals in the region will have access to affordable and high-quality eye care.
Empowering Divyangjans in Harraiya, Basti
In addition to his visit to Ayodhya, Shri Desai also visited Harraiya village in Basti district on January 11 to connect with beneficiaries and witness the impact of VOSAP’s enablement program for the Divyangjan community. VOSAP has been at the forefront of providing innovative assistive devices such as smart glases and self-employment kits—such as sewing machines—to empower Divyangjans to achieve economic independence and live with dignity.
The visit was hosted by Shri Yogeshwar Sewa Sansthan (SYSS), a local NGO partner. The founder, Shri Gopal Ji, has been instrumental in ensuring the success of VOSAP’s initiatives at the grassroots level, ensuring that resources and support reach those who need them most. During the visit, VOSAP’s team witnessed how the provision of assistive devices and self-employment kits had empowered beneficiaries to build sustainable livelihoods. From women starting home-based tailoring businesses to individuals gaining improved mobility, these stories showcased VOSAP’s unwavering commitment to creating a sustained and economic impact.
